Nursing is a growing field and training to become a registered nurse may bring you additional career options. As a working LPN or LVN, training to obtain your associate degree in nursing and, after graduation taking and passing the required licensure exams can open new career possibilities.
Careers for Registered Nurses
There are many career options for registered nurses. RNs provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about all types of health conditions and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families. Through their work settings and experience, RNs can specialize in several areas, including surgery, paediatrics, geriatrics, oncology, diabetes management, and mental health. They may also work to promote general health through public education and outreach programs.
Graduates of the Fortis ADN program are able to pursue various nursing positions in a variety of healthcare settings ranging from schools to outpatient surgery centers to physicians’ offices and more. In many cases, registered nurses may be qualified to pursue nursing positions that do not include patient care such as educators, researchers, administrators or even medical writers.
Nursing is not only an essential field, but according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for RNs are expected to increase over the next several years.
